Kuala Lumpur - Brisbane (08.09.08)

We got up at around 4.30 am, and were picked up by the bus at 5.30. We arrived at the airport 45 minutes later, and spent a small eternity in check-in. Hanne and me had some hot chocolate and bought some travel games which Hanne later forgot in the plane. We were all seated randomly it seemed, I ended up next to Nicole, at 23C. We played some tetris against each other, and I watched some films. Hanne ended up in the back of the plane; I think she slept most of the time since she slept through all the meals and ended up very hungry. We had all noticed when we entered the plane that it showed the flighttime and flightpath to Sydney, not Brisbane. Apparently, we were landing inSydney, disembarking, take a little detour and come back to the same gate and plane one hour later. Silly. Hanne spent most of her time looking at books, but somehow remembered to get some food last minute before departure. We flew towards Brisbane and landed a little before 10pm. I actually saw the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge while flying over Sydney. Yay for me. We went through the passport control and the customs where they actually x-ray your luggage and you have to hand in a written declaration of what you are and are not bringing with you into the country. We were met by Anni Cooper outside, she is our contact person at Griffith University. She had a bus ready for us, and took us to Abbey Apartments wehre we were staying the next three nights. Check-in took a long, long, long time, but at 11.45pm Anni had ordered pizzas for us, and we were given sodacans. We were also each given 75 dollars, so that we would not need to find an ATM first thing next morning. Around 10 min after the pizza arrived, Hanne and me were lucky enough to be one of the first rooms to get their key, so we headed upstairs to room 1105 and ate our pizzas. We got a nice corner apartment, with a corner balcony. We chatted for a while, and then went to bed.
