Thursday Part 1: Miyajima (30.10.2008)

More traveling at hand: We woke up, got breakfast somewhere or other and walked to the streetcar stop. We got on at Funairi, off at Yokogawa, took the train from Yokogawa to Miyajima-guchi, and ferry from there to Miyajima. The island of Miyajima is home to many "wild" deer, which will eat anything if no one stops them. The island is said to have been the home of shinto monks for more than a millenium and it is still an important religious site, with Itsukushima Shrine as its center, which along with the O-Toori Gate is on UNESCO'S List of World Heritage.
