Going home (to the land down under!) (07.11.08)
Our stay in Japan was nearing the end, as we were leaving for Narita Airport at 5pm. We had to check out from the hotel by 10am, so we left all our luggage in the reception. We had arranged that Tengyo would take us to the local post office and help us so we could send things home. We invaded the local post office; around 20 non-Japanese-speaking students sending home 1 or 2 large boxes of things. You could see the terror in the post peoples faces. We spent around 1,5-2h there, and we did get our stuff sent home. Yes mom, one box will be coming home, and no, you can’t open it. Hanne and me went to the Victorian pub and had lunch, before going on the McDonalds and having more lunch since we were still hungry. We went to the hotel, and met up with a few others also intending to occupy the reception area until 5pm.
We spent a lot of time there, up until 5pm when we were picked up by the bus. We said goodbye to Tengyo and Kjell, which was not that nice, and we took off. Arriving at the airport, checking in, clearing immigration and whatnot, we had some time to spend our last yens before the plane left. I ended up all the way back in the plane, where it was nice and dark, but quite cold and I couldn’t put my seat back. I still managed to sleep most of the time, until we arrived in Cairns at 5.30 in the morning. But more on that in tomorrow’s blogpost since it technically is tomorrow now. Or today, really. Hmm…
