Melanesian Night (17.11.2008)

Tuesday night was a musical experience. Every Tuesday Poppy's on the Lagoon cater a BBQ and serve loads of local food. The chicken was good, I've been addicted to jams and the banana cake was delighful, but the deep-fried cocoa nut was truly horrid. Then 6 o'clock the music started (it is still music at this point), a string band is going to entertain us for 3 hours. At first the songs sound differently, then they sound all the same and then they start sounding differently again.. The listeners don't know whether to clap between each song or at the end, and end up clapping embarrassingly hesitant every time.
